New painting in progress! February 2014. Oil on canvas.
I’ve been building all new frames for stretching canvas using scrap wood and this is the first one I’ve painted on so I’m super happy about it!
Here’s a slightly better photo of my last piece with some details. While the lighting in the gallery made the piece look great in person, it did not translate well in the photographs. :/
When I get back to school in January it’s going to be a project of its own to reinstall this thing somewhere with better light to get decent documentation.
These are two proofs of my largest print yet (a 4 block woodcut, 30”x22”) along with the photo of me and my bud, Justin that inspired them! Photo credit to Sam Hamilton.
My latest big project is complete and installed in the Blanchard student art gallery!
I still need to name it so give me ideas!
Oil paint, pastel, walnut ink, canvas, handmade paper from abaca and corn husk fiber, wood, and saw dust on a muslin-stretched frame.
The end of the semester is so soon :/
I started my final piece for my advanced studio class last night! I’ve been slowly working on ideas and prepping my canvas, but last night I finally got to it! I drew out my idea with some pastels to break the scary white canvas barrier and started nailing some scrap wood on it so I force myself to work out into the sculptural realm as I continue to work on it.
